To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Patrimony collection, the Vacheron Constantin Boutique on Av. da Liberdade in Lisbon is hosting the Patrimony Heritage exhibition.
From the 1950s to the present day: the legacy of modernity
The Patrimony collection has been passed down from generation to generation without being affected by fashions or trends. Timeless by nature, it is naturally attuned to each era, having managed to capture the undeniable spirit of modernity that enveloped the 1950s. This was a time marked by creative effervescence, renewal and optimism, a decade in which fashion underwent a significant revolution when design played ingeniously with curves and straight lines. At the same time, architecture expressed itself mainly through pure forms. Vacheron Constantin followed the energy of this period with creations distinguished by their discreet curves and impressive finesse.

Twenty years of elegance
Understatement is a demanding stylistic exercise that Vacheron Constantin has mastered to perfection. Since the first model presented in 2004 - a hand-wound Patrimony faithful in every respect to the inspiring 1957 reference - the collection has taken on countless watchmaking complications without ever abandoning its codes of identity. Perpetual calendars, retrograde dials, minute repeaters, ultra-thin calibres, and major watchmaking complications have marked the last twenty years without ever diminishing the formal sobriety of the Patrimony.

A selection of watches that harks back to the origins of the Patrimony collection
This selection of watches harks back to the origin of the Patrimony collection, the epitome of stylistic purity, and highlights its lines, a unique expression of the harmony between mechanical excellence, aesthetic discretion, and the concept of "simplicity" that perfectly characterises Vacheron Constantin.

''Disco Volante'Volante' Pocket watch - 1965 (Ref. 6345)
This pocket watch is ideally in tune with the era of the ''sixties'', where style sometimes took on extravagant liberties. This ultra-thin model in rose gold is the pocket version of a watch nicknamed the ''Disco-Volante'' by Italian collectors. It is characterised by its bevelled case, also known as a ''knife edge,'' and designed to accentuate the extreme thinness of the watch, necessary to allow the use of Calibre 1003. This reference is fitted with the legendary hand-wound 9''' Calibre 1003.
In 1955, to celebrate the bicentenary of its foundation, Vacheron Constantin stepped up its promotion of ultra-thin models by presenting three timepieces equipped with the first version of the world's thinnest mechanical movement, the Calibre 1003. This 120-piece movement is barely larger than a coin at just 1.64 mm thick and remains one of the thinnest calibres in the world.
Maison's expertise is also expressed in the watch's finishes, from the brushed polishing of the case to the stone-polished finish of the bezel and the subtle light effects that act on the Sunray silver dial.

Wristwatch with bracelet - 1958 (ref. 6264)
Designed in the 1950s, when elegance again came to the fore, this conventional ultra-flat round watch epitomised the classic Vacheron Constantin style while offering exceptional reliability. The absence of extraneous decoration and the controlled design are all needed as long as every detail accentuates a timeless design's clean lines and beauty.
This yellow gold watch from 1958, known as Reference 6264 and part of Maison's private collection, inspired the ''Patrimony'' collection with its deliberately minimalist approach. The collection comprises round watches firmly committed to the essentials in a refined style representing their strength and charm. This watch is represented by a silver dial punctuated only by radiant indices. The case, which opts for a wide opening in the dial, is equipped with very short lugs not to disturb the delicately balanced shapes and elegance of a semi-planar model typical of this era.
To complement the narrow case shape, this watch features a remarkable elegance in its movement: the calibre 1002 manual-winding movement with central seconds.

Wristwatch with bracelet - 1976 (ref. 34001)
Reference 34001 offers a design perfectly in line with the artistic watchmaking trends of the 1970s: aesthetic minimalism, a one-touch monochrome dial, wings, and a slim case. The absence of extraneous decoration and the control of the design emphasises a timeless design's clean lines and beauty. This ultra-flat watch epitomises the classic Vacheron Constantin style while offering enormous reliability.
This watch is equipped with calibre 1014, an ultra-slim manual-winding movement. Its finishes demonstrate Vacheron Constantin'sConstantin's uncompromising approach to mechanical watchmaking, with aesthetic sophistication being one of its greatest assets.

The exhibition can be visited until 6 May 2024.
