The new LBTM STUDIOS space in the heart of Kiev combines eclecticism and understated classicism. The boutique invites us in, offering an exquisite experience of comfort and lightness.
In the capital of Ukraine, where two small grocery stores once stood, with an unremarkable façade and a disorganised interior lacking in character, the new LBTM STUDIOS store now occupies the space, remodelled by the architecture and design studio HE.D Group.
The high ceilings and large windows characteristic of the old space revealed great potential for transformation, inspiring the idea of maximising openness, making the shop an inviting place, and arousing curiosity among passers-by.
The soft cream-coloured walls serve as a backdrop to this elegant boutique, with a sense of aesthetics in line with the brand. Classic wooden elements bring comfort and stability without overwhelming the composition. Almost all accessories, furniture, and lamps were created by local artisans, based on designs by the HE.D Group team. "This allowed us to meticulously combine materials and textures by shade, ensuring that all elements worked in harmony".
Lighting plays a central role in defining the atmosphere of the space — it is not only functional, it is an artistic statement. Three central chandeliers, shaped like jellyfish, attract the eye from the street with their organic softness and careful subtlety, bringing the space to life. The featured pieces have been strategically positioned to create a gentle interplay between light and shadow.
The fitting rooms have been designed as comfortable, private spaces for each customer. Spacious, inviting, and carefully lit, they feature mirrors positioned to offer the most flattering perspectives.
"Throughout the transformation, we placed a strong emphasis on tactility, individuality, and emotional resonance," explain the designers. Textiles played a significant role in the project — many pieces were custom-made, with some fabrics hand-painted to create a truly unique visual identity. The mirrored screens, sofas, linen curtains, and carpets in the fitting room areas contribute to creating a welcoming and intimate atmosphere.
The vintage furniture and décor add a distinctive character to the boutique's interior. A chair by the window, combined with a large table lamp, creates a reading corner. Antique crockery and carefully selected decorative vases add personality, charm, and a relaxed style.
The result of the project is an interior that conveys a sense of natural comfort while remaining refined and distinctive — a place where shopping is an exclusive and memorable experience.
