Decorating a historic apartment in just three weeks was the challenge that the American designer Lichelle Silvestry embraced in the heart of Paris. The result is a contemporary refuge that reflects the charm and timelessness of the city.
Located in the famous 6th arrondissement, Jacob is the new project from the Lichelle Silvestry Interiors studio. Filled with history, the apartment was a former 18th-century “Hôtel Particulier.” “The building was divided into several apartments, and this one was among the most splendid,’ says the designer. ‘It had already been renovated with modern comfort and our task was to decorate it.”

The owners - an American family who recently relocated to Paris - requested the team to finalise the project within a very tight timeframe due to the street closures for the Olympic Games. Lichelle didn't hesitate: “The space is beautiful, and I love a good challenge!”
The decoration of the apartment was finished in three weeks. “As I am based in Paris, I have the luxury of finding the most beautiful items at the Marché aux Puces and galleries, but it was still challenging to complete the re-upholstery, curtains, and paint refresh in such a short time frame,” explains the designer. “Thanks to our long-standing relationships, reliable vendors, specialists, and our team's hard work, we achieved this magical transformation just before the area closed”.
The project resulted in a harmonious fusion of elegance and a touch of drama. The apartment retained its beautiful colour palette from the previous renovation. The design team only refreshed the paintwork, providing the clients with bright and cheerful colours, as requested.

Lichelle opted for vintage items as her centrepieces. “I fell in love with a beautiful gold and green mirror from Lila K Antiques. The green was already within the apartment palette and the chandelier’s delicate design (from the same brand) was as glamorous as the architectural features. However, the addition of a Florentine painting and Venetian side tables from Yveline Antiques truly brought the space into perfect balance.”
For this project, the team adopted a more practical and functional approach. “All items were upholstered with Pierre Frey and Dedar outdoor fabrics for long-lasting, heavy-duty use. Given their young children, we wanted surfaces that develop a patina over time, adding to the charm and freedom of usage,” explains Lichelle.

The hard work has led to a place where contemporary meets timeless. “My love for enhancing the authentic, refined, and unexpected mix of texture is expressed here, making this project one of my favorites!” concludes the designer.
