Melissa Lee, from the Bespoke Only studio, has designed the interiors of this serene and sophisticated house, which is the haven of a young couple.
In the spring of 2023, a young couple who were expecting their first child decided to look for a quiet retreat, away from the commotion of Manhattan, that could provide a foundation for the creation of a new family. That's how they found a house that, despite its simplicity, offered the perfect potential to become a true hideaway. Located in Springs, a picturesque coastal area of East Hampton in New York, the house provided the starting point for a transformative project led by the interior designer Melissa Lee, from the Bespoke Only studio.
The setting couldn't have been more fitting: Springs is a neighbourhood with a profound artistic legacy, with roots dating back to artists such as Jackson Pollock and Lee Krasner. Its gentle landscapes and rich maritime tradition provide the perfect backdrop for an intimate and cosy retreat. The façade of the house – a 1965 build in a style characteristic of the neighbourhood's historic aesthetic – has been thoughtfully preserved. However, it was indoors that the real challenge and beauty of Melissa Lee's project unfolded.

The goal was clear from the start: to transform the house into a serene and sophisticated space where its owners could escape the hustle and bustle and create memories to last a lifetime.
