In the heart of Austin, Texas, just steps away from the vibrant South Congress Avenue, a century-old house is reborn with unexpected energy, embraced in na exuberant visual language.
Here, under the Texan heat and the canopy of century-old trees, relaxation, meditation and celebration find a home in the same space.
Created by Christina Simon's studio for Randall Mays – a leading figure in the music industry and in the sciences of well-being and consciousness – this is a residence that invites celebration, introspection and surprise. Originally built in 1915, the house underwent successive transformations until 2022, when it was transformed into a project that honours its history and reinvents it with a bold visual language, full of textures and an aesthetic where "grandpa chic" meets modern psychedelia.
With approximately 316 m2 on just one floor, the house comprises five bedrooms and five bathrooms, and was designed as the owner's pied-à-terre, serving as a venue for both intimate gatherings and exuberant parties during events such as SXSW and the Austin City Limits Music Festival. Christina's mission was clear: to create na environment that was simultaneously welcoming, provocative and unexpected - where every detail aroused curiosity, humour or na emotional memory.
Light, colour and texture were explored in a profound and original way, used throughout the project as sensory guides. The abundant natural light allowed the designer to explore a palette of deep, immersive colours, blending a dramatic backdrop where bold wallpapers and patinated brass finishes shine with understated elegance.

"I aimed to create a warm, grounded environment with deep, bold colours and rich textures. Everything was selected to evoque warmth, elegance, and a sense of joy and creativity," says Christina.
