John Sharp's studio practice is a testament to his unique design philosophy. It centres on the use of outdoor space, expanding the living space from indoors to outdoors, and encompasses a wide range of features from swimming pools to edible gardens.
The studio is guided by sustainability, integration with nature, organic textures and materials, and creating uniquely artistic environments.

Who is John Sharp?
A revolutionary in the landscape industry, John Sharp offers highly expressive landscape projects, creating never-before-seen worlds with botanical wonders in historic and famous houses. The designer spent several years developing his outdoor landscaping practice, expanding his art to gardens and the outdoors from an interior and spatial design background.

With an academic background in mixed media and sculpture and an early career in event production, curating, styling and collecting, John Sharp is a charismatic and enigmatic creative mind, driven by his deep love of the natural world, regenerative systems and poetic life. He founded Studio John Sharp in 2018, based in a bungalow in Venice Beach, California. The light-filled workspace overlooks the ocean and is decorated with an eclectic collection of contemporary art, modernist furniture, a fireplace, sculptural objects and, of course, plants.

Our approach to design is dynamic and lifestyle-focused, emphasising expressive, connective, natural and artful living. We are committed to creating expansive, wonder-filled experiences through personal, playful, and luxuriously designed environments.
Our creative process is client- and site-specific, pulling inspiration from both international travels and regional plant and material pallets/ traditions to create new narratives in the future.
