Architecture studio Pablo Muñoz Payá has recently created Kekomo in the center of Elda, Alicante, offering ready-to-eat Japanese meals in a friendly and welcoming place.

Through his design, the architect wanted to “reflect the type of food that is sold there”, by using soft oriental elements and a preference for natural materials such as white Carrara marble and oak. “The façade, the back of the interior, the display counter and the bar are all lined with this white marble to organise geometrically the elegant veining that characterises it, while oak is used to create a warm, welcoming environment”.

The neutral flooring, along with the plant boxes, enhance the desired feeling of coziness, allowing “the quality of the wood and the spectacular nature of the marble to be pronounced.”

As we enter the space, one can find built-in furnishings varnished in anthracite showcasing the products, in opposition with the 4.20 meters long bar, where clients enjoy their food while looking at the relaxing vegetation. The material palette is sober and warmth; Pablo continues: “this project aims to achieve a business that is innovative both in its design and in the products offered, through a complete renovation of image.”
