The architectural concept was to create an optical camera to capture natural light and frame three distinct fields of vision: the foreground of the forest, the background of Serra do Garibaldi and the midfield of Owl Ridge.

The floor plan of the house follows the natural topography of the landscape. The private spaces are situated against the upper level of the hillside, densely forested, while the common areas run parallel below.

With two bedrooms, a living room, a swimming pool, an outdoor dining area and an independent workshop, the house is imagined as an optical camera, allowing the resident to experience three distinct fields of vision while moving through the spaces. Upon entering the home, the foreground of the forest is framed by the wide opening of the dining room. As we descend to the lower level, the distant Serra do Garibaldi becomes visible through the top of the glazed aperture, shifting the perspective from the foreground to the background. Clerestory windows alternate between revealing the most prominent feature in between - the dramatic cliffs of Owl Ridge - and abstract glimpses of treetops and sky.

Interiors are sculpted with sloping ceilings to channel light and lines of sight. At any time, the layers of foreground, middle, and background can be obscured or revealed by rapidly changing weather conditions.

The house's impressive visual and experiential qualities were designed with a deep respect for the environment, with the intention of optimizing sustainability and minimizing the impact on nature, seeking to leave a minimal environmental footprint.
