Uma residência em Taiwan que reflete uma identidade avant-garde, onde a estética se funde perfeitamente com a funcionalidade.
It’s in the combination of imagination and reality that we uncover the real essence of this residence in Taiwan, conceived by studio Ahead Concept. The project, inspired by the owner’s memories and the sci-fiction movie Tron: Legacy, expresses an avant-garde identity where aesthetics blends perfectly with functionality.
Inside, we discover endless references to jazz, machine-age style and metropolitan culture but also the exquisiteness of the Bauhaus’ functional language. With retro decor and warm colours, the project showcases a strong personality composed of bold details such as the dual colour floor tiling with wooden grains or the turquoise lines on the door frame. “They all show the perspective of a breakthrough in contemporary with the charm of coexistence between retro and innovation,” added lead designer Yu-Chen Lo.
In the whole apartment, a serpent winding stainless steel tube remains one of the most striking aspects of the apartment, enhancing its visual fluidity. On the other hand, colour also plays a key role: “the soft saturated colors for gauze drapes, furniture, functional wall shelves, and the door of a bedroom are combined to turn to cover both functionality and decorativeness. It shows a natural structural aesthetics”. And even on the master bedroom, we uncover this connection between past and present, where a translucent mirror cladding forms an ambiguous void that divides the space into two sides - one side is paved in black tiles “like a cave dragging people downward”; the other side is paved in square wood tiles in a nostalgic air.
The result is a home that can be both futuristic and nostalgic, classic yet contemporary. “The more accurate and exquisite technique be used, the more classic final work will be.”
