Onyedikachi Achilike's latest project has a new address. Next to Madison Square Park, Blue Nomad offers a transformative journey where skin health is redefined as an expression of well-being.
Located in a historic building built by architect Cyrus Lazelle Warner Eidlitz, Blue Nomad is the new space owned by beauty and wellness specialist Onyedikachi Achilike. Together with Silvana Vergara Tobin, founder of Studio Tove, they have created a unique place where artistic design merges with skin health.

The space previously served as a small office with a production area for a swimwear brand before being transformed into a beauty studio. Silvana designed a personalised partition to create separate sections: a treatment area and a waiting room. The designer's biggest challenge was fitting several functions—treatment, retail, office, and storage—into one space without making it look cluttered.

From the start of the project, the design team departed from the typical materials associated with well-being, such as wood and simple white tones. Instead, they opted for soft blues, greens, and warm neutrals, which evoke calm and balance. To complement the space, they used Cantera stone, a volcanic material from Mexico with a pinkish-purple colour. The combination of materials conveys a warm and vibrant atmosphere.

One of the interior designer's inspirations came from a trip to Morocco, where she felt attracted by the use of natural materials in the architecture paired with engraved metallic accessories. "That is how we quickly decided that the walls should be in a finish such as plaster for a more organic look," explains the founder of Blue Nomad. "Additionally, based on her architectural background, Silvana has long admired Peter Zumthor's work, and she particularly loves how water reflection plays with light and shades to create a restorative experience in his project Therme Vals."

Instead of traditional greenery, glass and other reflective elements were used to create the tranquillity of nature—the fluidity of water through glass, with chrome echoing the iridescence of seashells. Lime paint in a subtle green colour adds texture and an earthy touch to the space, embracing natural beauty. "By forgoing wood in favour of chrome and vibrant tiles, the space achieves a balance of modernity and soulfulness—serene yet dynamic," says Onyedikachi Achilike.

Inspired by cultural and family heritage, Blue Nomad presents a broad vision of well-being - beauty and lifestyle. This studio in the heart of New York is just the first expression of this vision.
