This pied-à-terre was constructed in 2017 and belongs to a family that frequently travels for work, making this apartment the ideal place to gather during holidays.

Jae Joo, the project's designer, incorporated various custom pieces into this home, such as the hand-painted mural in the guest bedroom and the cashmere-upholstered sofa, which was built, assembled, and upholstered on-site to fit perfectly into the corner of the room. Blending contrasting elements while maintaining a minimalist and clean aesthetic was the inspiration. "When my client, the daughter of the family who owns the apartment, contacted me to design their family pied-à-terre in Tribeca, something special about her love for design resonated with me right away," remembers Jae Joo. "It was also exciting to discover her passion for contemporary art. She already had some lovely pieces we could incorporate into their home, and we got to add a few more from Bortolami Gallery and De Buck Gallery. Art is a big part of my process, and it was so great working with someone who shared the same interest and curiosity."

An atmosphere of serenity and harmony prevails in the different areas of the apartment. There are very few architectural details in the space, and the challenge was to create a home that felt livable, inviting, and, at the same time, vibrant while preserving its clean and minimalist essence. Jae Joo took a personalized approach in every aspect, selecting and crafting each piece to achieve balance and comfort without compromising aesthetic appeal or quality. The result is a genuine space where everything seems effortlessly and elegantly combined.
