Wood Mood, in Cristelo, Caminha, about 100 kilometres from the city of Porto, is a place that gets us back in touch with nature and tranquillity.
A peaceful refuge situated between the sea and the inland countryside. It is set in rolling terrain, exposed to the south and west, with magnificent cork oaks and granite outcrops giving it its special character.
Inaugurated in the summer of this year, the architectural project — with wooden buildings elevated above the ground and in separate modules — respected the location of the trees and the morphology of the ground. It also valued natural and cosy materials, while preserving the beauty of the land. The owners’ basic idea was to create accommodation where visitors could enjoy contact with nature and escape the city in an atmosphere of simplicity and well-being. The details, from the furnishings to the colours, were chosen to create a relaxing atmosphere, reflecting their love of painting, reading and surfing.

The project relied on the collaboration of friends, from architecture (Lourenço Rocchi) to landscaping (Atelier Baum – Benedita Cudell) and decoration (Francisco Carona and Graça Paz).
