October is the month that marks the arrival in Portugal of the unique exhibition of one of the most acclaimed international ceramists, Mishima Kimiyo.
Opening on October 22 and 23, 2020, the contemporary art gallery Sokyo Lisbon will welcome the artist's first solo exhibition in Portugal and in a commercial gallery in Europe, which includes works by Kimiyo since 1969.
The exhibition can be visited until December 12, 2020, and is an unmissable opportunity to get to know and appreciate the work of Mishima Kimiyo, an artist represented in the main private and institutional collections around the world.

About the artist
Mishima Kimiyo was born in Juso, Osaka in 1932. Having started her career with mixed techniques, she was quickly attracted by the solid yet fragile characteristics of the clay. Combining three-dimensional pieces with a careful silkscreening process, the result is exquisite works of art in ceramics, through which the artist expresses her concern about consumption, waste and the insatiable need for information characteristic of modern society. Her works are included, among others, in the permanent collections of the British Museum, United Kingdom; Art Institute of Chicago, USA; Tokyo Museum of Contemporary Art, Japan; M +, Hong Kong; National Museum of Modern Art, Kyoto, Japan.
