Situated next to a dense urban forest, where dry wind and humid soil predominate, this house was designed and built taking into account these two contrasting environmental conditions.
After a thorough study of several architectural pieces that faced similar conditions, the ATTA studio, responsible for the project, tried to combine, in a single house, several types of buildings that were molded in these humid and dry environments.
In this three-story house, the first is completely surrounded by the outer jungle and the walls are made of local excavated soil. There serenity reigns. The entrance is through a mezzanine that takes us to the second floor that houses the main bedroom, with low ceiling and huge windows that bring the forest into the room. The third floor consists of six volume space, towards six directions, where the connection with the landscape is maintained through the windows.
Built in the center of Tokyo, Todoroki House is an urban home that transforms life in the heart of the city into a richer and more diverse experience.
