As we approach this property, we sense certain wariness due to its impressive dimensions, secluded behind enormous windows. The trip there is comforting and the sense of growing expectation is inevitable, almost as if we were on a pilgrimage.

Our arrival at Quinta das Minas in Fafe is marked by a majestic monastic doorway that leads us into an austere garden, like that of a cloister. The recent restoration of this 18th Century building by the Augusto Vasconcelos architectural practice, not only respected the religious origins of the building, but also sought to preserve them.
