The concept behind the hotel chain citizen M is to offer luxurious accommodation at a lower price. Right now, they have hotels in Amsterdam, London, Glasgow, New York, Paris and Rotterdam, but they plan to open in other cities in the near future.
Located in the De Oude Haven area in the city centre, Rotterdam citizen M's interior design project was developed by Dutch architecture studio Concrete. In the 151 rooms, each with 14sq-m, the beds occupy the full width of the space, allowing for a good circulation despite the reduced area. Still in the bedrooms, the highlight goes to the mood pad, a device that operates the intensity of the light, can open or close the curtains and regulate the temperature or watch TV.

As it happens in all citizen M hotels, the lobby floor functions as a social area for the guests, with working, eating and lounge zones.
Art plays a major role in the space and on the building’s façade lies a large panel created by artist Gijs Frieling, that makes the building stand out in the landscape.
