Can you imagine choosing the shape, colour and specific integrated functions of your city’s new furniture? That’s the motto behind Print Your City project, an initiative developed by the Dutch-based research and design studio The New Raw.

In partnership with Coca-Cola, the designers just launched the Zero Waste Lab in Thessaloniki, in Greece, where citizens can learn about the recycling process of plastic, read about the circular economy and finally design new items of furniture for their neighborhood. For the past years, the studio has been proving that it is possible to “3D print street furniture from plastic household waste”.

From now on in Print Your City, citizens can shape the design and uses of each unique object according to their need and feature “a bike rack, a vaulting horse, a tree pot or even a dog feeding bowl or a bookcase”, explained the studio.

After 3000 different submissions, Hanth Park, in the city center of Thessaloniki, is the first place to hosts the pieces of furniture.
