Located in bustling Dnipro, in Ukraine, Cicada Wine & Dine offers a casual dining experience in “a modern retro style”.

In collaboration with the architecture studio Olha Havelock Wood, the proprietor was determined to give the space to a variety of colours and textures, seeking to create a relaxed yet sophisticated mood. “His idea was to find an architect who never designed restaurants before, to create a team of client+architect who are looking on the restaurant design with new fresh ideas.”

The studio told us about the thinking behind the choice of materials, particularly the use of orange, grey and green marble stones for the pink terrazzo floor. The selection of different elements included cherries and plywood paneling, pink sofas covered with Kvadrat upholstery fabric and cork lightings.

The reception, bar and tables were totally designed by Olha Havelock Wood, that chooses grey as one of the main colours. Complete the experience with the delicious brunches in a cosy and informal atmosphere. It will be hard to believe that all the details were agreed on by the Internet. “The restaurant site and the studio were in different cities, so we worked in close collaboration with the Client via Facebook messenger,” explained the practice.
