It’s impossible to enter this house without feeling a sense of rhythm and magnitude. The communion with the nature in this mountainous region of Madrid, with some ancient holm oaks spread over the plot, where the surroundings become part of the project. The magnificence, open mind and distinction are some of the most striking characteristics that shape the building.

And this inspired the La Finca house, in Madrid. The residence is the fruit of the multidisciplinary work of the design studio based in Valencia, Spain, having been conceived to subtly connect interiors with exteriors. In this space which is simultaneously refined and comfortable, several volumes with different heights are hierarchically organized, enhancing the feeling of movement.

As we enter the residence, we easily understand that all boundaries are blurred: “the huge masonry walls link it to the ground and the colour of the long swimming pool reminds us the lake that borders the house”, added the practice. Worthy of note is the palette of neutral tones in the interiors, in contrast with roughness and darkness of the external skin of the house.

The wide double-height living room, filled with daylight and dominated by a sculptural staircase, remains one of the central areas. Also of interest is the wine cellar, where the most special bottles are displayed on bronze-finished metal posts, with the best temperature conditions. The imposing structure of the house is only truly completed with the presence of art, even in the garage. Here, we can admire an intervention by the artist Remi Rough, as well as a sculpture by Fred Wilson.
