On a typical landscape of Alentejo, Portugal, with hills full of cork trees sits Villa Além, a project by Valerio Olgiati
The architect created a sort of a fortress with walls that reach five meters and a half height. The whole construction is made of slightly red cement, as the shades of the surrounding environment.
“The character of the complex is chiefly defined by the surrounding walls, which create the impression of petals that close and open towards the sky”, describes Valerio Olgiati. The building develops over one floor, surrounded by the high walls that create a private space within nature.
