Serene and eclectic, this is a three-bedroom, five-bathroom home where "The warmth of colour gives the home a calm, welcoming feel, but also accentuates the client's extensive collection of contemporary artwork," says Kara Smith. The designer's selected materials, throughout the main entrance, including polished stone, wood and plaster, bring natural elements to the modern Californian design. The organic curves make the space more playful and eccentric, and the textured fabrics in the furniture create layers of depth.

The residence features works by acclaimed artists James Nares and Jeanine Marchand, forming a sanctuary for client Tracy Tutor and her family. Craftsmanship also plays a key role in the spirit of the home, from the custom Stahl and Band ottoman in the living room to the Moving Mountains table in the foyer. The wooden floor reinforces Tracy Tutor's taste for neutral tones, and this passion is present a little throughout the decoration, namely in the warm colour palette, with touches of grey, cognac and blush. In the main bedroom, a monochrome colour scheme makes the space more serene, appealing to rest and tranquillity. The most unique and striking aspect of this project is the bar and office space – the house is filled with a contemporary indoor-outdoor flow, allowing for a smooth balance between personal and professional life. In addition, Kara Smith adapted the room to give it a speakeasy essence.
