The traditional layout of a Victorian house was the starting point for the project, which evolved until the final result, perfectly harmonising the original volumes of the building and its spaces with the clients' contemporary lifestyle.

After brainstorming with the clients, the design team developed a project combining elegance and functionality. The house's spaces were conceived as a place for social interactions, physically connecting the rooms while subtly defining the function of each area.

The experience starts on the ground floor, immediately after the front door, where a staircase welcomes visitors who enter the house with dramatic black walls. A bright floor finish captures the light needed to guide us to the next floor, underlining the gradual progression from dark to light.

Whitewashed wood floors provide an elegant base for the refurbished spaces. On the first floor, the living room and kitchen now inhabit the same space after opening the wall that initially divided the two areas. This decision profoundly transformed the old narrow and dark rooms into a bright and generous volume, in an L shape, where circulation and eyes flow uninterruptedly. In any case, the designers decided to integrate dividing curtains between the kitchen and the living room, which provides an adjustable level of privacy to the benefit of hosting regular dinners with friends and family.

Glazed metal sections help define each space, maintaining permanent visual connections, letting light penetrate deep and highlighting the generous ceiling height. The balance is found in the game between horizontal and vertical lines, balancing extended shelves with high pendants and suspended glass frames with dividing curtains.

Within a colour palette where bright natural tones predominate, the furniture and accessories offer a touch of contrast that warms the atmosphere. The mix of antiques from British industrial heritage, timeless contemporary design pieces and simplistic abstract art results in a powerful and balanced harmony.
