A long friendship with the client and a passion for Ibiza were enough reasons for Theresa Obermoser to accept, without fear, the challenge of this project. In addition, this was the designer's first big residential project and, for that reason, it was “an easy and quick decision for me to move to the island for the duration of the project”, she says.

This holiday home, located in San José, Ibiza, has 500m2 inside and 3000m2 of garden area. With six bedrooms, two kitchens – one indoors and one outdoors, a private cinema room, the house also has an area in the extensive garden where it is possible to harvest olives, figs or lemons.

Contrasting with the life and vibes of the island, the house is dominated by earth tones, linen fabrics, microcement and some rustic vintage elements that make us feel like a true “sanctuary to relax and unwind”.

Taking inspiration from the beach environment, namely Tulum and Mykonos, the designer wanted to bring to the space an interesting, and not obvious, mix of “rustic African elements and cool Scandinavian minimalism”, she says.

What we find is a rustic yet modern environment, which manages to be both relaxing and vibrant at the same time (or at different times).
