As soon as you enter the jewellers’ BMB Jewels, in the traditional yet eclectic Aviz shopping area in Oporto, you feel as if you have moved into another dimension. One breathes in the beauty and aesthetics of the tiniest details, with the tones of makeup red, bordeaux, white, dun and beige comprising the romantic palate of colours used throughout.

The interior project for the BMB Jewels store was executed by the Casa do Passadiço studio based in Braga, and features refined materials such as the mirrored walls that create a sense of spaciousness. Then there is the use of wood seen, for example, in the pierced partitioning screen that separates the desk from the more reserved area of the jeweller’s proper. Of note, also, is the beautifully worked ceiling evocative of the style of an older building, as well as the patterned floor tiles that immediately transport us back in time to the legendary Sixties.

Among the fresh vases of flowers to be seen everywhere, an agreeable fragrance in the air and the welcoming lighting which encourages us to linger, it is Bárbara Borda, the mentor of this brand, who undertakes the task of designing and creating the jewellery. Unique pieces of refined delicacy, where gold (or gold-plated silver), zirconium, tourmaline or leather, are brought together in harmonious perfection, blending with decorative details in gold.
