Located in Calders, a small village in the centre of Catalonia, we find this surprising and passionate residence, conceived for a couple with two children. The main body of the houses comprises two floors: on the ground floor, there is the common area and the bedrooms, and on upper floor, there’s the garage and the studio.

The main objective of this intervention was to incorporate the beauty of nature within the home itself, creating a continuity between the natural setting and the interior of the house. With this aim in mind, a structure of concrete horizontal slabs with columns of steel was create instead of walls, defining the form of the property.

“We wanted to design a house that is more like an exterior garden than interior, a space in which furniture and plants are placed directly under the blue sky“, explained the Barcelona-based studio Narch, responsible for the project’s design. The importance of light can also be sensed in the attention given to the brightness around the house, thanks to a series of sliding doors. That’s the reason why this ‘bay window’ is also a a flexible and inspiring place, due to the openness of this structure.

The owners’ greatest privilege is definitely this feeling of independency and freedom, like “traveling inside a camper van”, added the practice. An ode to the beauty of nature, where “residents can observe an architecture of four seasons, appreciating the changes of nature”.
