Public Without Rhetoric is the name of the Portuguese project represented at the 16th International Architecture Exhibition - La Biennale di Venezia. Curated by Nuno Brandão Costa and Sérgio Mah, the exhibition brings together 12 public building projects, all created by Portuguese architects, whose construction was completed between 2007 and 2017. This choice aims to demonstrate the diversity of programmes and scales in which Portuguese architects work, during a decade ravaged by the severe financial and economic crisis.

The authors behind the projects are Manuel and Francisco Aires Mateus; Álvaro Siza; Patrícia Barbas and Diogo Seixas Lopes; Carlos Prata; Carlos Azevedo, João Crisóstomo and Luís Sobral; Diogo Aguiar Studio; Filipa Frois Almeida and Hugo Reis; Ana Luísa Soares, Filipe Magalhães and Ahmed Belkhodja; Gonçalo Byrne; Inês Lobo; João Luís Carrilho da Graça; João Mendes Ribeiro; Cristina Guedes and Francisco Vieira de Campos; Miguel Figueira; Teresa Otto; Ricardo Bak Gordon; Miguel Vieira and Inês Vieira da Silva, João Pedro Serôdio and Isabel Furtado, Tiago Figueiredo and Eduardo Souto de Moura
