A structure with the façade covered with 2300 cans makes the connection between a square and a street, next to São Bento’s train station in Porto. The collective Moradavaga developed the project entitled Vira-Lata after an invitation by Porto Lazer for an artistic piece.
Vira-Lata is a vertical structure that connects two public spaces inside the city, and besides being functional, it has also a ludic side. The yellow cans that cover the façade create a kind of “communication tower”, where the visitors are invited to interact and create their own messages. The system presented is fairly simple and takes advantage of the two colours, the yellow and the metal colour of the cans that can be turned around, similar to an analogical pixels panel.
