The new Aesop in Oslo marks the opening of the 100th store from this brand, with outlets all over the world. The project from the Norwegian studio Snøhetta, uses the space of a small shop on Prisensgate. The ceiling stands out with a bold geometric effect resulting from ten intersecting domes, covered by a matte finishing, which offers the space a feeling of depth, emphasized by the mirrored wall on one of the space's ends.
At the centre, an island is the place for the brand's beauty products' demonstrations, with washbasins that reflect the ceiling's geometry in reverse, making a formal connection between the two elements. Original details from the space, some from the 19th century, were kept, such as the tiles that cover the floor. As it happens in all of Aesop stores, it's their recognized packaging that completes the space; in this case, displayed in minimalist shelves on one of the walls.
«In this intimate 66 square meter space, our goal was to do a lot with little», say the designer of studio Snøhetta.
