Feel the grandeur and magnificence: the welcoming foyer boasts classic chandeliers and colours reminiscent of the surrounding mountains. Comfort occupies every square metre of these spacious scales of elegance. Rescued from 1799, this colonial-style home for Thomas Jefferson’s daughter and husband is now a hotel that re-interprets the charms of the past with contemporary luxury.

Boasting 20 unique rooms scattered throughout the estate, founded on a superior level of quality, it offers its guests experiences that pamper all the senses. “They all feature lush, rich interiors and boast a cohesive combination of repurposed antiques, modern furniture and sophisticated artwork.” This thoughtful intervention was carried out by the Blackberry Farm Design team, responsible for reimagining the interiors of the property.

Classical inspiration and innovation are brought to the table in 1799, the hotel’s restaurant, with the signature of the Michelin-starred Executive Chef Matthew Bousquet. You mustn’t forget to try out the delicious cocktails, the regional wines and some of the best seasonal dishes with Mid-Atlantic influences and local ingredients, many sourced from the property’s own Chef’s garden.

If there are exemplary projects, due to the way they acknowledge the heritage of their locations, this is surely an example of such. The hotel also offers its guests a bar, a lounge, a wine cellar, an infinity pool, a private lake and walking trails.
