In this unique property, located in Quinta da Marinha, a luxury resort in Estoril overlooking the agreeable Atlantic coast, functionality and sophistication are harmoniously blended in the creation of a serene space, consecrated by its surroundings. To insert “the sea inside the house” was the main goal conceived by the architecture and interior design practice Arq Tailor’s.
The profusion with the exterior is brought into the home through the enormous windows that frame the lush blue and green setting and contribute to the markedly gentle visual environment. Windows frames were, actually, a key element during the process, because “apart from all the projected openings, automatic and apparently with frame, it allowed to develop two floors without visible exterior window frames and nearly imperceptible on the interior”, the architect told us.
More than simply transparency and connection, this house is defined by elegance and contemporaneity. The choice of materials such as natural wood, marble and micro cement, all harmoniously integrated, enhance this need to connect with its surroundings over its three different levels. In fact, each floor was carefully thought to answer a different need: the ground floor features the social area, an office, a inner garden, a modern kitchen with an island and four bedrooms while the upper floor brings together the main sleeping areas - including the generous master suite - along with a private terrace with impressive views over the Atlantic ocean. Filled with natural daylight, the basement becomes the perfect place to enjoy some relaxing moments, housing an indoor pool, spa, home cinema and a guest apartment with two service bedrooms, garage and storage facilities.
With an eye on the future, the residence reflects, also, the increasing need of answering to sustainable elements, explaining the choice of energetic consume controllers or the solar panels.
