Japan Creative is engaged in promoting the ancient and recent Japanese heritage by regularly inviting international designers to develop pieces together with Japanese masters. In 2015 the invited designer, among others, is Stefan Diez who explored the possibilities of a material widely used in Japan: bamboo.

For this project, Stefan Diez had to spend some time in Kochi island, in the south of Japan, where he worked with specialists in bamboo from the Yamagishi shop. Soba is a reinterpretation of the traditional Japanese bamboo bench, a common object, that, in this project, can be easily assembled, using only kevlar rope hand tighten.

The collection was designed in order to allow flat-pack transportation, perfect to be sold online.
