Iskos-Berlin studio presented on the latest Maion et Object the Fiber Chair for Danish brand Muuto. The chair collection uses wood fibres in its composition, an ecological alternative that makes them 100% recyclable.

Starting from the iconic design of a shell-shape chair, the designer’s duo came up with a simplified version. “Our objective was to make an all-round easily understandable and widely acceptable chair, comfortable and harmonious”.

They explored the possibilities of using wood fibres to achieve a more sustainable product. The final material for the Fiber Chair was found after conducting several tests, reaching a composition of 25% wood fibres and 75% polyproplen. Not only the environmental aspect weighted on the choice for this natural component, but also the finishing it provides to the pieces. “The environmental concern, being the reason of wood fiber composite choice got its clear expression in the character and tactile properties of the surface”, say the designers from Iskos-Berlin.
