In a building covered with tiles and multiple iron balconies, located in the area of Príncipe Real in Lisbon, one of its apartments saw its plan being completely transformed by the architects at Fala Atelier.

“All the walls were removed and the program suffered a 180º rotation”, explain Filipe Magalhães and Ana Luísa Soares, the duo responsible for the project. Since every room was originally in the wrong place, it needed a profound intervention on the 60 sq-meters space, to take the best advantage of the exposure to sunlight and the ample view over Lisbon.

Therefore, the living room and kitchen are transformed into one, moved to the south side of the house, benefiting from the Lisbon landscape that enters the window. The space is further prolonged to the closed balcony, with a pavement in black and white hydraulic tile. On the north side, two rooms use the whole width of the house.

The apartment was painted white in order the serve as a neutral base for the pieces that decorate it. Some of the furniture was custom-designed by Fala Atelier, such as the green unit that is used as the kitchen, the chest of drawers in the bedroom or the low tables.
